Quebrada Santa Cruz – Alpamayo Trek 10D/9N

Day 1: Arrival to Lima.

Reception at the airport and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Lima – Huaraz (3100m).

Transfer out to the bus station. Comfortable public bus transport (or fly at extra cost) to the city of Huaraz. Arrival and transfer to your hotel. (B)

Day 3: Huaraz – Pastoruri – Huaraz.

Today we will enjoy an acclimatization trek. From Huaraz our private transport will takes us to the foothills of Mount Pastoruri (5230m) of altitude. We will hike up to the base of the glacier. Late in the afternoon transport back to Huaraz. Hotel. (B, LB)

Day 4: Huaraz – Cashapampa Village - Camp Llama Corral (3750m).

Our private transport will take us from Huaraz towards Cashapampa village (2900m), the starting point of our trek. Here we meet our crew and donkeys, who will transport our heavy equipment during the whole trek. We begin our trek (5-6 hours) through the beautiful Santa Cruz valley towards our first camp. On the way on enjoy great views of the nearby high Andean peaks. Camp at Llama Corral (3750m). (B, LB, D)

Day 5: Lllama Corral - Taullipampa Camp (4250m).

After our first night in the high mountains we continue our trek (4-5 hours) towards our next camp. On the way on we will observe the beautiful lakes known as Ichiccocha and Jatuncocha. Later on and following the side of the Arhuaycocha gorge we will reach the base camp of Mount Alpamayo (5947m). From here we can enjoy great views of the famous Mount Alpamayo and also mounts Artesonraju and Quitaraju. Later on we will continue or walk until we reach our camp at Taullipampa at the base of the beautiful Mount Taulliraju (5830m). (B, LB, D).

Day 6: Taullipampa – Artesonraju Glaciar Lake.

This day from our camp in Taullipampa we will enjoy a beautiful altitude hike to the glacier lake of Arhuaycocha at the base of the beautiful Mount Artesonraju (6025m). Camp. B, LB, D.

Day 7: Taullipampa – Punta Union – Tuctu Camp (Paria Valley – 3900m).

Today we face the hardest part of the trek: the Punta Union pass at 4750m. However, the view over Mounts Taulliraju, Artesonraju and Alpamayo, rewards us for all our efforts. After a 4 hour ascent we will deserve a break with an overwhelming panorama. Descending to our next camp at Tuctu, perhaps we can see some Condors flying over the Morococha lagoon. Camp. B, LB, D

Day 8: Tuctu – Huayripampa - Vaqueria Camp - Huaraz.

From Tuctu our trek will take us to pass the Huaripampa gorge and valley. On the way we will enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding mountains: Chacraraju, Piramide, etc. After 4 hours of hiking we will arrive to the settlement of Vaqueria where we meet our vehicle which will take us back to the city of Huaraz. During our drive we will reach the Portachuelo pass at 4750m from where we descend to the beautiful Llanganuco Lakes (3860m) and the continuing to Huaraz where we arrive late in the afternoon. Day 9: Huaraz – Lima.

Public bus transport (or fly at extra cost) from Huaraz to Lima. Hotel in Lima. (B)

Day 10. Lima out.

Transfer to the airport. (B).
