Cajamarca-Kuelap-Leymebamba (4D/3N)

Day 1: Cajamarca - Kuelap

Cajamarca arrival. Private transport towards Celendin village where you can see the artisan handicrafts made from straw. Then we continue through the Marañon River until Leimebamba town and finally we arrive to the place knwon as "El Chillo" near the Utcubamba River and 41/2 km outside Tingo town. Overnight. L, D.

Day 2: Kuelap

Visit to the citadel of Kuelap, a pre-Hispanic citadel and the most important archeological attraction in northeastern Peru. It is located on a crest of a huge rock overlooking the valley of the Utcubamba River. It was discovered in 1843 and the mayority of its construction has beed dated to around AD 800. It consists of two large platforms on which a considerable city of circular buildings were built. The most impressive aspect of this place are its enormeous ramparts, 25m high at some points and 600m long Drive back to the hotel in Kuelap and dinner. (B, L).

Day 3: Kuelap – San Pedro - Kuelap

Breakfast. Visit to the pre-Inca Ruins of San Pedro, where more than 200 hundred rooms are built from stone and some of them have up to 3 floors. Lunch. Transport back to Kuelap. Hotel. (B, L).

Day 4: Kuelap – La Jalca – Leimebamba – Cajamarca

Breakfast. On the way back to Cajamarca visit La Jalca where a pre-Hispanic church totally built in stone is located. Visit to the site Museum of Leimebamba. Lunch. Continue driving back to Cajamarca. Arrival and transport to the airport bus station or program extension. B, L.
