AABT01   The Royal Mountain Range.  Llama Trek     15D/14N


A great trip that permits close encounters with the Aymara people. Enjoy the highlands of unspoiled nature, its flora and its fauna. This wonderful trek runs along the western and eastern sides of the Cordillera Real de Bolivia, an amazing mountain range that stretches for about 160 km from the Illampu-Ancohuma massif in the north-west end.

 


Day 1: Arrival at El Alto international airport. Transfer to La Paz and to your hotel.

Day 2: In the morning city tour visiting the Witches Market, the San Francisco Basílica, Murillo Square. In the afternoon visit “The Animas Valley”, an impressive landscape of sandy monoliths sculptured by natural erosion near to La Paz. Hotel. (B).

Day 3: Full day tour to visit the impressive Tihuanaco Pre-Columbian Ruins, with massive stone monuments. We will have the opportunity to see the magnificent Royal Range. Short visit to the Titicaca Lake. (B).

Day 4: Drive towards Hichukhota valley, the main entrance to the Chachacomani-Negruni region. The three-hour drive will take us to the shores of Lake Chokñakjota at 4420 m. of altitude. Camp. (B,L,D).

Day 5: Start our first day trek towards our camp at Ajwani Lake at 4500 m. above sea level. This region is known as the Chacapa Massif mountain range. (B,BL,D).

Day 6: Today we cross two high gaps: Janchallani at 4800 m. and Jurikjota pass at 4900 m. before we arrive at our camp at an altitude of 4700 m. on the shores of Lake Jurikjota. From the camp we enjoy magnificent views of the northern sides of the Condoriri Massif. (B,BL,D).

Day 7: Trek along a moraine, which takes us up to a wonderful ice lake at the base of the glaciers. This is the most spectacular pass. We continue our trek to reach its highest point at 5100 m. from where we can observe the Condoriri peak. We descend towards the Condoriri valley where we set up our camp at Lake Chiarjota at 4650 m. Day 8: Rest day to enjoy this beautiful spot with nice views of the surrounding mountains: Condoriri, Pequeño Alpamayo, Pequeña Illusión, etc. (B,BL,D).

Day 9: Trek to the village of Ancoma. This is a magnificent trek crossing two high passes and heading down towards Lividiñosa Valley. We are already on the eastern side of the Royal Range and we can experience the changes in temperature and climate. Camp on Ancoma at 3700 m. (B,BL,D).

Day 10: Crossing the small village of Ancoma we head towards the village of Uma Palca at the eastern side of Tiquimani peak. This impressive trek takes us around the base of this peak. Camp at 4000m. (B,BL,D).

Day 11: Trekking on the eastern side of Matilde Peak we head down towards the east to the Sanja Valley. Camp at 3800 m. (B,BL,D).

Day 12: A 2 hour trek will take us to the Chucura pass from where another 3 hours trekking will take us down to Samana Pampa village, the gateway to the jungle of Bolivia. Camp at 3800 m. (B,BL,D).

Day 13: This day we follow a spectacular Inca Road. This amazing Inca Road takes us up to La Cumbre Pass at 4700 m. from where a short walk leads us down to the valley to meet our vehicle. Transport back to La Paz. Hotel. (B,BL).

Day 14: Free day in La Paz. Optional tour to Copacabana Village and Titicaca Lake. Hotel. (B).

Day 15: Transfer out to the airport. (B).

AABT02       Trekking the Apolobamba Range         11D/10N


The Apolobamba Range is located north-west of Lake Titicaca, and has been  for a long time a settlement of the Kallawaya Indians who still live in this beautiful area.

 


Day 1: Arrival in La Paz. Visit to the city, the Witch Market and the handicraft market. Welcome dinner. Hotel (D)

Day 2: Visit the famous ruins of Tihuanaco and then the shores of lake Titicaca. Overnight at Puerto Perez. (B,L)

Day 3: Motor launch to the island of Suquiri and then we continue to Copacabana. We visit the cathedral and the Inca observatory. (B,L)

Day 4: Motor launch to the islands of the Moon and of the Sun to see their famous ruins. On the island of the Sun we make a charming 12 km trek. (B,L)

Day 5: Early in the morning we go for a spectacular trip that takes us into the range to the impressive valley of Curva at 3700m altitudes. After noon and after having visited the little town of Curva, we trek for approx. 3 hours to our first camp at 4300m. (B,L,D)

Day 6: Curva-Inka Kancha. After crossing a pass at 4780 m we descend to a valley with small stream and a cascade. Next camp is near the cascade at 4200 m. (B,L,D)

Day 7: Inka Kancha-Sunchuli. We start our trekking on a zigzagging trail to the edge of a ridge from where we descend to the ancient quarry of the Incas at the Sunchuli valley. Camp at 4.700 m. (B,L,D)

Day 8: Sunchili-Illo. Today we walk across the highest pass in the trek: the Sunchilli pass at 5100 m from where we will have a spectacular view over the Bolivian Andes ranges. Thereafter we descend to the Illo Illo River where we will camp on the shore. (B,L,D)

Day 9: Illo Illo-Pelechuco. Our trek goes along an old Inca trail which joins the old mines of Sinchuli with the town of Pelechuco at 3540 m altitude. Camp (B,L,D)

Day 10: Pelechuco-La Paz. Today we have a long drive from Pelechuco to La Paz. On the way we will visit the Ulla Ulla National Park. Hotel (B,L,D)

Day 11: Transfer out. (B)

AABT03       La Cumbre Trek from Huitukhote         11D/10N


Day 1: Arrival in La Paz. Visit the city and the handicraft market. Hotel

Day 2: Chojnakhota. We leave La Paz towards Huitucocha near the domains of Chachacomani-Negruni. After a 3-hour trip we reach lake Chojñakhota at 4420 m. We set up camp here and have the afternoon for leisure. (B,L,D)

Day 3: Ajuani. 5 hours of trekking is waiting for us in order to reach the 4600 m pass, then we walk around the foothills of the Chacapa, where we can see some abandoned gold mines. Climb to Ajuani. Camp at 4850 M.

Day 4: Jurikhota. First we cross the Janchallani pass (4850 M) and then the Jurikhota pass (same altitude) where we camp. In between we have 6 hours trekking. (B,L,D)

Day 5: Condoriri. 5 hours trekking. We cross the highest pass at 5100 M, the Apacheta pass. Arrival at the Condoriri lagoon (4650 M). Camp.(B,L,D)

Day 6: Ancoma: today we cross two passes of nearly 5000 m each. Then we descend to Liviñosa valley and then we arrive at Ancoma after a 6-hour trek. Camp at 3750 M). (B,L,D)

Day 7: Tiquimani-Umapalca.We descend to Botijlaca and then climb towards Tiquimani. Camp at the settlement of Umapalca at 4630 m. (B,L,D)

Day 8: Sanja.  6 hours trekking to the valley of Sanja. Camp at 3800 M. (B,L,D)

Day 9: Samana Pampa. We trek across the Chucura pass at 4200 m to finally reach the Samana Pampa camp.(B,L,D)

Day 10: La Cumbre- Return to La Paz. We trek to La Cumbre (4750 M) from where we drive back to La Paz. Hotel.(B,L)

Day 11: Transfer out. (B)

AABT04    The Gold Route Trek  10D/9N

 

This pre-Columbian trail was used for exchanging goods between the Andes and the tropical zones. Enjoy magnificent landscapes and encounters with local indigenous people.

 

Day 1: Ancohuma. We drive from La Paz to Sorata and then to the village of Ancohuma at 4050 m. Camp. (L,D)

Day 2: Trekking on a steady descent to our next camp at Samata (2450 m).

Day 3: Trek from Samata to Killapithuni. (B,L,D)

Day 4: Uphill trekking for about 4 hours and then down again to our next camp at Yuna (1700 m)(B,L,D)

Day 5: Rest day. (B,L,D)

Day 6: Trek from Yuna to Nairapi. (B,L,D)

Day 7: Trek from Nairapi to the gold mines of Llipi. Camp at 800 m.

Day 8: Hike from Llipi to Unithuluni and then go by car to the village of Guanay. Hotel. (B,L)

Day 9: Exploration of the tropical surroundings of Guanay. In the afternoon, transport to Caranavi. Hotel. (B,L)

Day 10: Return to La Paz (B).
