Ecuador Biking Programs

 

 

Over the last few years, Ecuador has become an interesting target for bikers from all around the world. It offers a wide variety of unspoiled trails and safe alternatives for all sorts of bikers. During the trip we will stop by the side of a river and nice spots for a delicious picnic lunch including fresh tropical fruits, soft drinks and water.  At the end of the trip we celebrate a fun day on the bike with a few ice-cold beers.

All our biking trips include a bike (special sizes on request), helmets, elbow and knee protection, box lunch, guide, private transportation/pace car, tools and lots of water.

AAEB01    Cotopaxi Downhill             1Day

 

Early in the morning, drive southwards from Quito. Arrival at the Cotopaxi National Park. Drive directly up to the parking lot of the mountain hut (4600 m). Visit the refuge at 4800 m. Afterwards mount cycles for a 2 km downhill run to the Limpiopungo valley. In the valley there are a variety of route options, which can be taken. Wind proof or resistant clothing should be taken.  (BL)

AAEB02    The Chiriboga Downhill            1Day

 

Early morning short drive by car to the west side of Quito. From here the ride starts for a 90 km downhill adventure. The peaceful but challenging winding trail provides beautiful landscapes all along its path. After about 8 hours, the trail reaches a paved road that leads us to the town of Santo Domingo, which runs down to the pacific Coast. The final destination is the little  village of Tandapi. Transfer back to Quito.

AAEB03    The Tandayapa Downhill       1Day

 

Drive by car up to the highest point of the road to Nono, en-route enjoying a perfect view of northern Quito. The downhill starts on a cobbled stone road until reaching Nono. From here, and after a small uphill ride, the adventure begins; with gorgeous scenery, rolling between the mountains and the Tandayapa River. On arrival at Tandayapa, it’s time to get the fishing rod out and spend some time trying to catch the famous trout from the man-made lake. Drive back to Quito.

AAEB04    The Pululahua Down & Uphill      1Day

 

Early drive from Quito. Arrival at the rim of the Pululahua crater, an inhabited plateau surrounded by beautiful landscapes. Either ride the bike or walk down to the crater and to the end of the trail that leads to the wide-open plateau.  The first section is an easy downhill route through the open plains, later followed by the second section of the tour, which is a 4km uphill ride to the paved Quito road. Drive back to Quito

AAEB05   Guagua Pichincha Downhill         1Day

 

This is a remarkable tour, which starts right at the rim of the crater of Guagua Pichincha (4500 m). We drive from Quito to the hut of the volcano; from there we do a 15-30 minute walk to the rim of the crater to see and enjoy the impressive views of the crater and the western lands of the country. Later we walk back to the hut and start biking  downhill  along the country roads that lead back to Quito. Here there is  a lot of beautiful scenery to see all the way down.

AAEB06  The Old Train Route (Pifo – Cayambe)   1Day

 

This is a charming experience that runs flat all the way through the northern landscapes of Quito along the old railway from Pifo to Cayambe. The ride passes by several small Andean settlements, tunnels and bridges, resulting in a very enjoyable biking experience. Back to Quito by car.

AAEB07   Trekking & Biking (to the Jungle)      3D/2N

                      

Day 1: Early start with breakfast. Drive by car up to a height of 4.000 m towards the place known as “La Virgen”. Here we start the full day trek through the high cloudy paramos, beyond which lies the Amazon basin.  Afternoon arrival at the Papallacta thermal waters and time to relax in the hot springs. Overnight in Papallacta.

Day 2: Full day biking downhill on the road to Tena, which borders the Amazon basin. Enjoy the breathtaking views en-route. Hotel.

Day 3: Transfer back to Quito or jungle program extension.

AAEB08 Double Down: Bike & Rafting Adventure    2D/1N

 

Day 1: Full day downhill biking (Cotopaxi). As described above. (BL,D).

Day 2: Full day rafting. Early departure to the Blanco (or Toachi) River. Safety briefing and paddle techniques. 3 hour rafting excitement. (B,BL).
